For the summer, I wanted to focus on some tropical recipes we could add to our weekly meal plan or to have company over for a Tiki party. After reading the menu description for Trader Sam’s Hawaiian Cheeseburger I knew I had to make this and it would be a big hit with the family. Honestly I would love to fly down right now and have one from the source!
Trader Sam’s menu description:“Ground Angus Burger with Teriyaki Sauce, Togarashi Aïoli, Caramelized Pineapple, Havarti Cheese, Bacon, Butter Lettuce, Tomato, and Maui Onion on a Brioche Bun served with choice of Sweet Potato Fries, Classic French Fries or Island Fruit”
This recipe is pretty easy to pull together. Mixing the aioli is quick and it just needs to wait while the burgers and bacon are cooked. Once you have those cooked to perfection, simply put the ingredients together on the bun, add as much aioli as you like and enjoy!
Trader Sam’s Hawaiian Cheeseburger Recipe
- 1 lb. ground Angus beef
- 4 tbsp. teriyaki sauce
- 4 slices pineapple rings
- 4 slices Havarti cheese
- 4 pieces bacon
- 4 leaves butter lettuce
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 4 Brioche Buns
- 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
- 3 tsp. black pepper
- 3 tsp. orange or tangerine peel
- 3 tsp. ground red chili pepper
- 2 tsp. sesame seeds
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- Combine all ingredients for Togarashi Aioli in a bowl and mix well until combined. Refrigerate until needed.
- Grill burgers and pineapple.
- Serve on brioche buns.
- Top with Togarashi Aioli, teriyaki sauce, pineapple ring, Havarti cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato and onion.
