I am one of the many who was late to find out about Firefly, but it has become one of my all time favorite television shows. The Fandom Foodies theme for the month of February 2018 was Firefly Feast and I was excited to put together a recipe inspired by this show. As I re-watched the show, I was inspired to make an entire menu, and there are many ideas I didn’t have time to include. Fortunately the talented bloggers who participated in the Fandom Foodies challenge have included a lot of great additions to my menu. You can check them out at Fictional Fare.
In this post, I’ve compiled everything you need to put together a Firefly Feast at your home. Please post your party results as I’d love to see your pictures!

Firefly Feast Decor
The decor in the dining room on Firefly is very eclectic. Basically, nothing matches. We have a variety of mismatched chairs, place mats, dishes, mugs, you name it. The items have been collected over time and nothing is formal or fancy on the ship. To get this effect at your Firefly feast, I recommend gathering items from around your house and making sure you use a variety. We all collect mugs over the years, go ahead and use your collection on the table. If you have wood or textured material items such as bamboo, use those as much of what we see comes from natural sources. Pottery or ceramic dishes are also a good choice. Have fun mixing and matching with what you own already or ask some of your party guests to bring items to contribute to your table decor.
In addition to the mismatched theme, there is a heavy Chinese influence in the show. We hear Chinese spoken quite often and we see Chinese alphabet on clothing or in the towns they visit. Some of the food that is mentioned in the show, such as Bao, is eaten with chopsticks. The crew is uses a combination of cutlery and chopsticks at most meals.
Firefly Feast Shopping List
In order to make it as easy as possible to pull together the Firefly Feast, I wanted to include some links to items I used or would purchase when hosting this event. Not all the items below match what I have exactly and I may not have actually used these products. While I try to always recommend things I have used in this case it isn’t possible. I have included items below that if I were shopping today I would personally order. I have been collecting many of the items I used over the years. You likely have things around your house as well and I encourage you to think creatively when pulling together your table.

Custom Tea Blends
Note: I am not an affiliate for Adagio Teas, just a customer. Adagio has a rewards program where I can earn points when my custom tea blends are purchased. Over time, the points could add up to a discount off a future order of tea. I appreciate all support for this blog and all orders of my custom tea blends.
