This month’s Theme of the Month Menu is Firefly. As I re-watched the episodes for Firefly, I found a lot of inspiration. My first was to create a custom tea blend at Adagio and use it for my Firefly inspired Saffron’s Cider. This tea is a combination of orange, cinnamon and apple Chai accented with cloves. It makes a lovely tea that will make you feel like you are drinking a light apple cider. I found just a pinch of sugar brought out the flavors. I then tried this as originally intended to add spice to apple cider and I fell in love. The flavor was amazing. The spices were just perfect in the cider. We loved this tea so much our entire sample is already gone (within two days of arriving at home) and we now need to place an order.

Please note, I am not an affiliate of Adagio tea, just a customer. They do have a rewards program where I can earn points when you order my custom tea blends and if I earn enough points, I could earn discounts off a future tea order. I greatly appreciate all support for this site and for my tea habit!
Firefly is a science fiction TV series that ran for one season in 2002-2003. It is a space western, which is an odd combination, but turns out to be a real winner. Our heroes/outlaws dress more or less like they are from the old west: dusters, boots, cowboy hats, but they live on space ships. The show focuses on the crew and passengers of a Firefly named Serenity. The show has a great combination of adventure, action, and humor. It is a true shame it was cancelled in it’s first season before many people even knew it existed. If you’ve never seen Firefly and you enjoy science fiction, this is a must watch you should add to your list.
