I have a Christmas Cookies recipe to share that is perfect for gift giving. Who wouldn’t love getting a ready to make mix for delicious cookies. Just keep this on the shelf and whip up a batch when you have last minute company. This mix really makes the cookie making process fast and easy.

I’ve always loved personal and homemade Christmas presents, and receiving these cookies would make me and my family very happy indeed. You can include a plate of baked cookies for your recipient to enjoy right away and so they will know what the cookies are like when baked. This handmade gift shows you took the time to make something personal from the heart. I’m sure everyone on your gift list will enjoy!

How to Make Cookies in a Jar

Using my recipe below, layer the dry ingredients into jars. The gift recipient is responsible for adding the wet ingredients. I like layering the dry ingredients into the jars in a thoughtful way so each layer stands out. I layered light (flour, baking powder, salt), dark (brown sugar), light (granulated sugar), and so on. You can use a spoon or a funnel to make the layers. I used a measuring cup to try to pat them down. This is a bit tricky and my layers are not as neat as I would like but not too bad.

The cookie recipe below will just barely fit into a 32 ounce mason jar. I chose a wide mouth jar to make the job a little easier. I also used the reusable mason jar lids. I use my jars for everything so I find these lids to be especially helpful to have on hand. Top with the lid and decorate with festive ribbons, and a decoration, whatever you like or have on hand. Go simple or go big. It doesn’t take a lot of crafty talent to make these really look cute.

Since the recipient of the gift may not have the recipe, it is important to include the instructions on the jar. I included in the ingredients in the jars just in case there are allergies. Include what is needed and the instructions to prepare.

I printed this on normal printer paper, then using adhesive stuck the instructions on one side and the gift tag on the other. Then I punched a whole in the tag and tied it to the jar using ribbon.
