Book’s Strawberry Salad

Book’s Strawberry Salad

At the beginning of the Firefly series, the crew of Serenity pick up passengers. One of the passengers, Sheppard Book, brings fresh strawberries on board from his time at the Abbey. While we don’t see the strawberries show up at the dinner table that night, […]

Firefly’s Roasted Rosemary Tomatoes

Firefly’s Roasted Rosemary Tomatoes

I was inspired to make Firefly’s Roasted Rosemary Tomatoes based on the very first episode of Firefly, Serenity. In this episode, the crew takes on passengers and one passenger who joins them on their adventure is Sheppard Book. Sheppard Book comes from a monastery and brought […]

Firefly inspired Saffron’s Cider

This month’s Theme of the Month Menu is Firefly. As I re-watched the episodes for Firefly, I found a lot of inspiration. My first was to create a custom tea blend at Adagio and use it for my Firefly inspired Saffron’s Cider. This tea is […]

Boysenberry Sherbet

Boysenberry Sherbet

This month’s Food ‘n Flix Challenge is the movie Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner. I was inspired to create Boysenberry Sherbet based on the scene in the movie where the parents drop by a drive in and the father orders “Fresh Oregon Boysenberry Sherbet”. I […]

Ravenclaw Blueberry Hand Pies

Ravenclaw Blueberry Hand Pies

For my sweet menu item in this months Theme of the Month Menu Hogwarts Tea Party, I decided on Ravenclaw Blueberry Hand Pies. There really isn’t a lot of naturally occurring blue in food, so blueberries were the obvious choice here. Store bought pie crust […]

Gryffindor Turkey Cranberry Crostini

For my second savory menu item in this months Theme of the Month Menu Hogwarts Tea Party, I decided on Gryffindor Turkey Cranberry Crostini. I love using homemade cranberry sauce as it has such a beautiful red color and tastes better than canned cranberry. If […]

How To Throw a Harry Potter Hogwarts Tea Party

How To Throw a Harry Potter Hogwarts Tea Party

Here’s a quick checklist to show How To Throw a Harry Potter Hogwarts Tea Party in your own home.

1. Invite three of your friends. Have them get sorted into their Hogwarts house at Pottermore before they arrive.

I have been sorted into Slytherin! Remember, not all Slytherin are evil, Merlin is a Slytherin and he’s the greatest wizard of all time. Slytherin traits include “Cunning, ambitious, resourceful, shrewd, determined”. I actually really enjoy this as my house, it’s a bit unexpected!

2. Print your menu.

3. Display your menu with pride in a nice frame near your dining table. This one would be perfect!

4. Print the recipes for the tea party and create your shopping list. See this resource page for lots of suggestions on what to include in your planning.

5. The day before, make as much of the menu items as you can ahead of time. Each recipe includes what portion of the recipe can easily be made the day before to reduce the time it takes to prepare the day of the party.

6. Set your table and have fun with the Hogwarts houses. If you can, set each person’s place setting based on their Hogwarts house.

7. The day of the tea party, prepare the remainder of your recipes, brew up a fabulous cup of tea, queue up your music to set the mood of Hogwarts and enjoy!

I’ve created a collection of Honeydukes inspired teas at Adagio. I recommend Pumpkin Juice Tea for this party, but any of them would be a wonderful choice.

Be sure to reference our Harry Potter Hogwarts Tea Party page for details and resources you can use to easily create this party!
